Unified heavyweight boxing champion, Oleksandr Usyk, has shared his thoughts on the highly anticipated IBF heavyweight world title fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois, set to take place later tonight, September 21, 2024, at Wembley Stadium in London.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Usyk predicted that Joshua would emerge victorious in the all-British showdown. He expressed respect for both fighters but ultimately chose Joshua as his favorite, stating, “I think it’s AJ.”
Usyk, who voluntarily vacated his IBF belt for Dubois, explained that he wanted to contribute to the growth of boxing. He emphasized that the sport must continue to develop, and his decision to vacate the belt was part of that process.
The winner of tonight’s fight will claim the IBF world title and earn the right to challenge for a unification championship in 2025, potentially against either Tyson Fury or Usyk himself. Fury and Usyk are scheduled for a rematch on December 21 in Riyadh, where Fury will seek redemption after losing to Usyk by a split decision in May.
