Bukayo Saka, the Nigerian-born winger for Arsenal, has expressed strong confidence that this could be the year the club finally ends its 21-year wait for the Premier League title. After finishing as runners-up to Manchester City in the last two seasons, Arsenal currently sits in third place, just one point behind league leaders Liverpool and tied on points with City after six matches.
In an interview with CBS Sports, Saka emphasized the team’s resolve and belief in their ability to compete at the highest level, referencing their recent 2-0 Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain as a testament to their potential. He stated, “I don’t want to put too much pressure on us but I do think that this is the year [Arsenal wins the title].”
Saka, who has faced disappointment in back-to-back European Championship finals with England, highlighted the importance of learning from near-misses. He said, “In previous years, I’ve come runners-up a lot. It’s just that spirit in me that I want to win this season and of course, I believe in myself a lot.”
With a renewed sense of determination and belief in their capabilities, Saka and his teammates are focused on making a statement as they aim for success this season.
