Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has addressed reports suggesting that his daughter, Mrs. Helen Obareki, was appointed as the state’s First Lady following the death of his wife, Patience Umo Eno. The governor clarified that Mrs. Obareki, who was her mother’s Special Assistant, will now coordinate the Office of the First Lady to ensure the continuity of her late mother’s programmes. He emphasized that First Ladies are not appointed, and this decision was a natural outcome aimed at healing the family and maintaining ongoing initiatives for women, the elderly, and vulnerable groups.
