The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, has clarified that Governor Charles Soludo has not yet declared his intention to run for a second term in office. Mefor made this statement while speaking to reporters in his office.
While acknowledging that Soludo has not made any formal announcements regarding his candidacy, Mefor expressed confidence that the governor would be encouraged to run due to his impressive performance in office. He asserted that if Soludo decides to seek reelection, he would emerge victorious by showcasing his achievements to the electorate.
“Soludo has not declared an intention to contest for a second term. He is currently focused on implementing policies to develop the state,” Mefor stated. He added, “I am among those who will persuade him to run, and I am confident that if he does, he will win. He has proven to be what the people of Anambra want.”
Mefor pointed out that all indicators favor Soludo, emphasizing that he hails from Anambra South, which aligns with the state’s zoning formula that supports a second term. He noted, “If Soludo chooses to contest, I’m sure he will win because he will be able to demonstrate his accomplishments rather than merely promising future actions.”
He further argued that those opposing Soludo’s potential candidacy are the same individuals who ran against him before he became governor, highlighting that he has tangible achievements in Anambra that will resonate with voters. “Soludo has verifiable, tangible achievements, and all he needs to do is present his scorecard to the people for reelection.”
