Stand-in Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has expressed that Ahmed Musa remains the team’s captain and will always be welcome back. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the 2025 AFCON qualifier against Libya, Troost-Ekong praised Musa’s leadership, calling him a role model and the most capped Nigerian player with 109 appearances.

Musa, who recently rejoined Kano Pillars, has been instrumental in his return to the Nigerian Premier League, scoring twice in a recent victory. Despite not featuring in Nigeria’s 2023 AFCON campaign, his return to the national team seems imminent.
