Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has declared that he is committed to ensuring that the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins Abia State in the 2027 elections. Kalu stated that, as the sixth-highest official in the country, it is his duty to deliver Abia for the ruling APC.

In his remarks, Kalu asserted that current Governor Alex Otti and the Labour Party will not retain power in Abia come 2027. He emphasized that he has communicated this intention to Governor Otti both privately and publicly.

In a recent video, Kalu voiced his belief that the people of Abia owe President Tinubu and the APC for various appointments and development initiatives provided to the state. He argued that Abia should align closely with the central government to maximize development and ensure that the benefits of democracy are fully realized.

Kalu expressed confidence that APC will be the next governing party in Abia, stating, “This will be the last time that a Labour governor will govern Abia state. The next governor of our state will be APC.” He underscored his commitment to this goal, regardless of who the APC candidate might be, and highlighted the need for the state to leverage its connection with the federal government for further development.

While acknowledging that Governor Otti has made significant contributions to Abia, Kalu reiterated his belief that the APC should lead the state, reflecting his loyalty to President Tinubu and the party.

Attempts to reach Benjamin Kalu, Governor Otti’s Chief Press Secretary Ukoha Njoku, and Otti’s Special Adviser on Media Dodoh Okafor for comment on the video were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
