During the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Lookman was instrumental in leading Nigeria to the final, scoring three goals and providing an assist. His standout performance continued with Atalanta’s historic Europa League win for the 2024-2025 season, where he scored a hat-trick in the 3-0 final against Bayer Leverkusen.
Despite Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten run and recent Bundesliga title, Lookman’s exceptional contributions have earned him a spot among the top 30 contenders for the 2024 Ballon d’Or. His impressive tally of 22 goals and 11 assists in 61 appearances for both Nigeria and Atalanta has positioned him as a formidable contender for the prestigious award.
