Libya’s national football team captain, Feisal Al-Badri, and head coach, Nasser Al-Hadiri, have expressed confidence ahead of their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Nigeria’s Super Eagles in Uyo. Despite Libya’s underwhelming start in Group D, where they have yet to secure a win, both leaders emphasized their determination to upset the heavily favored Nigerian team.
Al-Badri, speaking at a press conference, stated, “We’re here to win. We know we’re up against the strongest team in Africa, but we came here to win.” Similarly, Coach Al-Hadiri vowed that his side will give their all to boost their chances of qualifying, adding, “We lost 4-0 here before, but we’re back to improve and put pressure on Nigeria.”
The match is a vital opportunity for Libya, currently with just one point from two games, to reinvigorate their AFCON campaign. The game kicks off today at 5 p.m. in Uyo.
