Adams Oshiomhole, former Governor of Edo State, has criticized Governor Godwin Obaseki for allegedly blocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) from using public school premises for campaign activities. Speaking in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area, during the APC’s ward-to-ward campaign, Oshiomhole voiced his discontent over the denial.
Oshiomhole, now representing Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, pointed out that many of the schools in question were built during his tenure. He expressed his frustration, stating that it was surprising for his party to be barred from using these facilities.
He further challenged Obaseki, highlighting that the governor’s role is merely temporary and on behalf of the people. Oshiomhole declared that the APC would proceed with its campaigns in state facilities and warned Obaseki against further obstruction, threatening to deny the governor use of federal roads in retaliation.
Regarding the upcoming election, Oshiomhole announced that APC’s governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, would debate with PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo, with a preference for the debate to be conducted in the Esan dialect and moderated by Esan people.
