Umar Iliya Damagum, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused former senator Dino Melaye of being part of the ongoing issues within the party. Damagum pointed to Melaye’s actions during the recent Kogi gubernatorial election as contributing to the party’s challenges.

In an interview with Daily Trust, Damagum responded to Melaye’s earlier comments, where the former senator referred to the PDP as a “once upon a time party.” Damagum questioned Melaye’s loyalty, specifically highlighting that Melaye did not vote in his own race for governor in Kogi State.

“Dino is part of the problem. He ran for governor in Kogi State and didn’t even vote for himself. If the party gives you its platform, you are responsible for improving its fortunes. Winning or losing is part of politics, but you should at least lose credibly,” Damagum stated.
