The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has dissolved its Kogi State working committee, appointing a caretaker committee to manage the party’s affairs for the next 90 days.
The party announced the new caretaker committee in a letter signed by the Chairman and National Secretary, Ibrahim Gabam and Dr. Olu Agunloye, respectively, and addressed to the Independent Electoral Commission.
The members of the caretaker committee are:
- Chief Sam Ranti Abenemi (Chairman)
- Alhaji Jimoh Mohammed (Secretary)
- Mrs. Rabi Emaiku (Member)
- Alhaji Abubakar Karmar (Member)
- Alhaji Sheik Ibrahim Jubril (Member)
- Mr. Fehinti Dada (Member)
The letter, which was reviewed by our correspondent on Wednesday morning, stated, “This is to officially notify you that the national working committee of SDP has received and considered the report of the activities of the Kogi State working committee of the Social Democratic Party, and has accordingly dissolved the state working committee in line with the 2022 Constitution of the party as amended.”
The statement further added, “Consequently, the NWC has therefore approved the constitution of a caretaker committee for Kogi State. The tenure of the caretaker committee shall be 90 days or as may be deemed fit by the NWC. This appointment shall take immediate effect.”
The letter also formally informed the INEC chairman that the Kogi State working committee has been dissolved and replaced by a caretaker committee under the chairmanship of Chief Sam Ranti Abenemi, as per the provisions of the SDP Constitution.
