The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has revealed details of President Bola Tinubu’s message to traditional rulers during a meeting at the State House on Thursday.
During the gathering, which included the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the Ooni of Ife, President Tinubu addressed the economic situation in the country.
Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, the Ooni shared that Tinubu urged Nigerians who are unhappy with his administration to consider voting him out in the 2027 presidential election.
Tinubu emphasized the importance of dialogue in addressing the planned nationwide protest from August 1-10, 2024, and reiterated his commitment to resolving the economic challenges facing the nation.
The Ooni quoted Tinubu, saying, “The President has said, ‘Any leader that you don’t like, wait until 2027 and vote him out.’ He is open to dialogue. We know that Nigeria faces many challenges. But are we going to destroy our nation by ourselves? Is that what we are all after?”
The monarch added, “It is very difficult to build, but it is the easiest to destroy. We are all stakeholders in this country and are stronger as a nation than individually.”
