Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will be absent from Galatasaray’s Turkish Super Lig match against Gaziantep FK tonight, alongside new signings Ismail Jakobs and Roland Sallai.
According to a statement from Galatasaray, Osimhen and the others will not feature in the game at RAMS Park due to incomplete registration processes. The match, originally set for the third week of the Super Lig, was postponed to today, September 17, and kicks off at 6 p.m.
At the time of the rescheduled fixture, the trio was not registered, making them ineligible for tonight’s game. Osimhen, Jakobs, and Sallai all joined Galatasaray towards the end of the 2024 summer transfer window.
Osimhen, who debuted last weekend with an assist in Galatasaray’s 5-0 win over Çaykur Rizespor, will now have to wait until the next weekend to showcase his talents again. Galatasaray will face a major test when they visit Fenerbahçe at Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, led by Jose Mourinho.
Marek Hamsik, former Napoli midfielder, hinted that factors beyond football may have influenced Osimhen’s move to Galatasaray.
