Rivers State Governor Signs Order to Establish Investment Promotion Agency

Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has signed an Executive Order to establish an investment agency designed to coordinate business interests from investors who now view the state as a prime destination.

Governor Fubara signed Executive Order No. 002 of 2024, creating the Rivers State Investment Promotion Agency, during a ceremony at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday. The order was presented by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dagogo Israel Iboroma, SAN.

The governor explained that this move implements a key recommendation from the Rivers State Economic and Investment Summit held in May. He highlighted the summit’s success in positioning the state for economic growth and stated that the new agency would serve as a centralized hub for all investment-related activities in the state.

“This will enable investors, when they come in, to avoid unnecessary hassles and potential pitfalls from unscrupulous entities,” Governor Fubara said. “With this agency, they will have a reliable point of contact to address their concerns and facilitate their investment processes.”

He added that the agency would be fully constituted in the coming days.
