Barrister Kolade David Alabi, the Chairman of Bariga LCDA Lagos and President of ALGON, has assured the public that youths and students in Bariga will not participate in the proposed protests. This announcement comes in response to the planned demonstrations over various demands from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
During a recent meeting with students and youths, Alabi emphasized that there is no need for Bariga’s youths to join the protests. He highlighted the LCDA’s ongoing commitment to supporting local youth through grants, loans for SMEs, scholarships, and various empowerment programs.
Alabi confirmed that the students and youths in Bariga have pledged to maintain peace and collaborate with the LCDA to ensure the area remains calm and free of violence. He also promised continued efforts to alleviate the current economic hardships by further supporting the residents.
Regular meetings between Alabi and Bariga’s youths and students, including those from local institutions such as the University of Lagos, Yaba College of Technology, and Federal College of Education (Technical), facilitate ongoing engagement with the community.
Alabi reiterated his dedication to transforming Bariga LCDA, noting improvements in over 30 government primary schools and upgrades to primary healthcare facilities in the area.
