Gunmen attacked the Church premises of Hon. Mrakpor, former Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State, killing three people, including a police officer attached to her, and kidnapping Mrakpor and her daughters. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at the King Jesus & I Church, located off Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) Road in Asaba, the state capital.
The attack unfolded around 5 p.m., leading to chaos as churchgoers fled amid heavy gunfire. Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen targeted the church, resulting in the death of one aide and leaving a security officer critically injured.
SP Bright Edafe, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the attack and stated that police personnel have been dispatched to track down the perpetrators. The situation is under investigation, and authorities are working to secure the safe return of the kidnapped individuals.
