The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, along with other Agege leaders, met with residents on Wednesday to stress the importance of unity, resilience, and patience in anticipation of a nationwide protest. Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Eromosele Ebhomele, reported that the leaders also engaged with youth groups, assuring them that President Bola Tinubu is addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
The 10-day protest is set to begin on Thursday, August 1, 2024. However, Obasa highlighted that Agege has benefited from democratic dividends, particularly in infrastructure development, which has supported local businesses. He urged leaders to counsel their children and residents against actions that could lead to violence in the state.
