Dr. Isa El-Buba, General Overseer and President of El-Buba Outreach Ministries International (EBOMI), spearheaded a significant hunger protest in Jos, Plateau State, today. The demonstration, which began early this morning, was organized by the Initiative for Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN), of which Dr. El-Buba is the national coordinator.
Protesters assembled at the Plateau Secretariat overhead bridge around 6 a.m. before marching towards the old airport roundabout. Dr. El-Buba addressed the crowd, highlighting the severe economic hardships facing Nigerians and criticizing recent government policies such as the removal of the fuel subsidy, increased electricity tariffs, and the rising cost of living.
Despite prior opposition from the Plateau State government, citing security concerns, the protest has proceeded peacefully with the presence of security personnel ensuring order. Additional groups of protesters also gathered at the British American roundabout, with many local businesses closing in solidarity.
As of 11 a.m., there have been no reports of violence, and the peaceful nature of the protest has been noted as a positive aspect by participants and observers alike.
