The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, revealed on Thursday that security agencies have pinpointed a senator as a key figure in supporting anti-government protests. This statement followed an emergency FCT Security Council meeting in Abuja. Wike alleged that the senator arranged for security personnel to escort a truck delivering food to the protesters, describing this as an act of sponsorship.
Wike reiterated the government’s commitment to upholding democratic rights while ensuring protests are managed within legal boundaries. He also expressed concerns about potential violence and property damage linked to the protests, and warned that the senator would be questioned by security agencies in due course.
