A former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, and vocal cleric Prophet Isa El-Buba led hundreds of Jos residents in nationwide protests against bad governance and economic hardship. Despite warnings from the state government and security agencies, protesters marched through various streets on Thursday, demanding immediate change.

Dalung, who served under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, emphasized the constitutional right to peaceful assembly and urged security agencies not to intimidate protesters. El-Buba, the Convener of the Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria, called for President Bola Tinubu’s resignation, criticizing his governance.

“President Bola Tinubu must resign; we cannot wait for 2027 to change him! Hunger will not allow us to endure that long,” El-Buba declared, insisting the protests would continue until demands for good governance were met.

“We are going to be here for the next 10 days; if you don’t stand up for your rights, no one will do it for you,” he added.
