President Bola Tinubu has appointed Michael Hadi Ango as the Acting Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS). The announcement was made in a statement by Anthony Ogunleye, Director of the Press Office of the FCT Minister, on Friday.
As Acting Chairman, Ango will be responsible for implementing strategic initiatives to boost revenue generation and ensure fiscal sustainability within the FCT. Ango, a native of Kebbi State, brings over 20 years of experience in revenue administration, financial management, and organizational leadership across both public and private sectors.
Ango’s educational background includes an LLM from Columbia University School of Law, a Bachelor of Law degree from Ahmadu Bello University, and executive education in tax policy from Harvard Kennedy School. His extensive work experience includes roles at Andersen LP, Guinness Nigeria, and the Federal Inland Revenue Service, among others.
Ango’s appointment comes at a critical time as the FCT-IRS aims to expand its revenue base, improve taxpayer compliance, and streamline operations for greater efficiency.
