Ukrainian forces have reportedly advanced into the Belgorod region, adding to their ongoing incursion into Russia’s Kursk oblast. Social media posts and video footage show Ukrainian troops operating over six miles inside the Russian border, with some reports suggesting they are deeper in Russian territory. Thousands of civilians from areas near Sudzha have been evacuated.

A video shared on Telegram purportedly shows Ukrainian troops in Belgorod, further north, although its authenticity and filming date remain unverified. The footage features soldiers holding Ukrainian and Georgian flags, claiming control of the village of Poroz, situated about a mile inside the border.

The situation in Belgorod adds to the cross-border skirmishes that have marked the conflict. The Russian Defense Ministry has stated that it is repelling the Ukrainian forces, while the Russian anti-terrorism committee has launched countermeasures across Belgorod, Kursk, and Bryansk regions.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has labeled Ukraine’s actions as an “unprecedented attempt to destabilize” and is implementing additional security measures to protect citizens and infrastructure.
