Suspected armed herders launched a renewed attack on the Egwuma community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State on Sunday, burning down 23 houses. The Chairman of the Local Government, Philip Ebenyakwu, reported that three individuals with gunshot wounds are receiving treatment at a hospital.

Ebenyakwu noted that the herders, believed to come from Kogi State, have consistently targeted the Agatu West area, which shares a vulnerable boundary with Kogi. During the attack, the bandits also stole three motorcycles.

While there were no fatalities reported in this incident, the council chairman praised the security forces for their efforts. He mentioned that naval officers had confiscated a machine boat from the attackers on Saturday, which had been used to launch assaults from Nasarawa State.
