The Kaduna State Security Council has lifted the nighttime curfew in the metropolitan areas of Kaduna and Zaria. The curfew, which restricted movement between 6 pm and 8 am, was officially lifted on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
Samuel Aruwan, the Acting Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, announced that the decision followed a comprehensive security assessment led by Governor Uba Sani. The curfew had been initially imposed in response to unrest following the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests and was previously relaxed from a 24-hour lockdown.
Residents of Kaduna and Zaria can now resume their daily activities without restrictions, though the government has warned against unauthorized gatherings and processions. Security forces will remain vigilant to ensure peace is maintained.
Governor Uba Sani reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance and ongoing dialogue with stakeholders to ensure stability across the state.
