Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has revealed that he, along with Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, is actively working to persuade Victor Osimhen to join Chelsea from Napoli.

Osimhen, currently one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers, has a €130 million release clause in his Napoli contract and is widely expected to leave the Italian club this summer. Reports suggest Chelsea is seriously interested in securing the 25-year-old’s services, with a potential deal involving Romelu Lukaku moving to Napoli.

Mikel Obi believes that Osimhen’s goal-scoring prowess would be a significant asset for Chelsea, comparing him to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. Mikel emphasized that Osimhen has the qualities to be a prolific goal scorer and could make a substantial impact at Stamford Bridge.

In addition to Mikel Obi’s efforts, Didier Drogba is also reportedly in contact with Osimhen, sharing insights and emphasizing the importance of joining Chelsea. Mikel expressed his hope that Osimhen would choose Chelsea, stating, “We want somebody who can finish, score goals, the tap-ins. Someone like Erling Haaland. That’s something Victor Osimhen will bring to Chelsea.”

Mikel also mentioned his commitment to keeping in touch with Osimhen, ensuring that Chelsea remains his top priority, with Drogba reinforcing the message. Both former players are eager to see the Nigerian striker don the Chelsea jersey.
