A group of over 20 medical and dental students, accompanied by a House Officer, were abducted by gunmen in Benue State. According to Daily Post, the students were on their way to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu when they were ambushed.
The students, hailing from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were taken around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area.
The Benue State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, has confirmed the kidnapping and stated that an investigation is underway. “Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing,” Anene said.
