The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Paul Mbadugha, a 54-year-old businessman, at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, for attempting to smuggle 88 wraps of cocaine to Vietnam. Mbadugha was intercepted on 12th August 2024 while boarding a Qatar Airways flight to Hanoi, Vietnam. After four days in custody, he excreted the drug wraps, weighing a total of 1.710 kilograms. The suspect confessed that he was offered $2,000 by a Lagos-based contact to transport the drugs.

In other operations, NDLEA officers seized a shipment of synthetic cannabis concealed in noodles at Lagos Airport, and apprehended several suspects involved in drug trafficking across the country. Significant quantities of cannabis, tramadol pills, and other controlled substances were also confiscated in Rivers, Ekiti, Ogun, and Niger States.
