Gad Peter, Chairman of the University of Jos Alumni Association, has strongly condemned the recent abduction of approximately 20 medical students from the University of Jos by criminal elements in Benue State.

In a statement released on Tuesday and shared with news outlets, Peter expressed deep concern over the incident, highlighting it as a serious threat to the safety of Nigeria’s highways and the pursuit of education.

“This tragic event underscores the ongoing danger on our highways and the significant risk it poses to those seeking education and knowledge,” Peter stated.

He called on the police and other security agencies to act swiftly to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted students and to bring the perpetrators to justice. “We urge the authorities to take immediate action and urge citizens and community leaders to expose any criminal elements using their communities for such activities,” he added.

Peter concluded by praying for the safe return of the kidnapped students.
