Nigerian singer Omah Lay has alleged that a fellow artist stole the concept for his upcoming album. During an interview on the Zach Sang Show, Omah Lay shared that he initially planned to create an entire album with a new sound, represented by his track “Holy Ghost.” However, after sharing this idea with a colleague he intended to collaborate with, the artist went ahead and released an album using the same concept.
Omah Lay expressed his frustration, noting that he had to re-record his album after the incident. He described the situation, saying, “He came to me and I accepted for us to collaborate. Of course, it’s an artist that I love. And I told him where I’m headed with the sound. Five months later, he put out an album with exactly all the same sound that I shared with him.”
Despite the setback, Omah Lay remains optimistic, stating that the reworked album will be “the greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history.” The incident highlights the challenges artists face in the music industry, where creative ideas can sometimes be appropriated by others.
