Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has shown interest in returning to the national team following the recent lifting of his five-year ban from football due to match-fixing allegations. With the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) yet to appoint a new head coach after Finidi George’s departure, Siasia has his sights set on the vacant position.
In an interview on Kennis 104.1FM’s Sports Salsa, Siasia hinted at his willingness to take on the role again, stating, “I am not a messiah, however, we need to sit down and identify our priorities. We will see how things unfold.”
Siasia, who previously managed the Super Eagles in 2010 and briefly in 2016, could potentially return as an assistant coach to Augustine Eguavoen, who is expected to serve as interim coach for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda in September 2024.
