Premier League club Liverpool has reached an agreement with Juventus to sign Italian winger Federico Chiesa. The deal includes a base fee of £10 million, with an additional £2.5 million in performance-based bonuses.
The 26-year-old is set to undergo a medical at Liverpool, and if successful, he will become the first outfield player to join the club under coach Arne Slot’s leadership. Chiesa expressed his excitement about the move in a brief interview with Italian publication Sportitalia, stating, “Ready for this new adventure.”
Chiesa played a pivotal role in Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph, particularly in the final against England. During his time at Juventus, he scored 32 goals in 131 appearances, including 10 goals in the previous season. However, under new Juventus coach Thiago Motta, Chiesa has been left out of the squad for the first two matchdays of the current season.
If the transfer is completed, Chiesa will be Liverpool’s second signing under Arne Slot, following the acquisition of Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia earlier this month for a fee of up to £29 million. However, Mamardashvili is not expected to join Liverpool until next season.
