Germany has announced the deportation of Afghan nationals back to Afghanistan, marking the first such action since the Taliban seized power in August 2021. The deportation, carried out on Friday, comes as Berlin faces increasing pressure to address migration issues.
Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit confirmed that the individuals deported were convicted offenders who had no legal right to remain in Germany and had outstanding deportation orders against them.
