The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made it clear to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, that he is not above the party. This statement was delivered during a press conference in Abuja on Monday by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.
The party’s response follows Wike’s comments in Port Harcourt, where he warned PDP governors against meddling in the party’s affairs in Rivers State and threatened to “put fire in their states.” Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State, had also asserted that no one could wrest control of the PDP structure in the state from him.
In response, the PDP emphasized the supremacy of the party and announced that it has set up reconciliation and disciplinary committees to address the situation. The PDP also revealed that Wike has been summoned to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee over his alleged anti-party activities.
Ibrahim Abdullahi, the PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, confirmed during an interview with Channels TV that Wike has been formally notified to appear before the committee, citing his recent statements as unacceptable.
