Personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State have arrested and detained seven individuals on charges related to illegal mining, theft, and armed robbery. According to a statement released on Tuesday by NSCDC spokesperson Daniel Aidamenbor, the arrests were the result of a comprehensive intelligence operation aimed at curbing the suspects’ criminal activities.

The apprehended individuals include Galadima Umaru (25) from Sokoto, Ibrahim Haruna (25) from Katsina, and Ibrahim Jubril (20) from Kaduna, who were arrested in Ogunlepa Famakinwa village, Odigbo Local Government Area, for their involvement in illegal mining.

Additionally, Omoniyi Folorunso (20) from Owo was arrested for stealing generator components. Kenneth Abraham (20) from Benue, residing in Ita-Ogbolu within the Akure North Local Government Area, was apprehended at Obatedo farm settlement for the theft of cocoa pods and seeds.

In connection with armed robbery, Ojo Segun (18) and Onile Dayo (19) were arrested in Ifon, where they allegedly conspired to rob Abdulrahim Aliu using dangerous weapons.

Aidamenbor emphasized that the suspects have confessed to their crimes and will be prosecuted once investigations are complete. He also reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to working with other security agencies in the state to combat crime and criminal activities.
