Hunter Biden, son of U.S. President Joe Biden, offered to plead guilty in his tax evasion trial on Thursday, just as jury selection was about to commence. The 54-year-old faces accusations of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes over the past decade, reportedly spending the funds on luxury living, drugs, and sex workers.

While Biden’s legal team acknowledged the likelihood of a guilty verdict if the trial proceeded, his lawyers submitted an “Alford plea,” where he would plead guilty but maintain his innocence. The court is expected to reconvene later to discuss the plea arrangement.
