Kanu Agabi, a former Attorney General of the Federation, has criticized Nigeria’s presidential system of government, claiming it fosters dictatorship due to the concentration of executive power in one individual. Speaking at the 23rd Mike Okonkwo Annual Lecture, Agabi argued that the system, originally intended to unite the nation, has instead led to corruption and oppression.
Agabi emphasized the need for radical change, stating that mere prayers will not resolve Nigeria’s issues. He also criticized the practice of employing subpar methods in elections, suggesting that this undermines the integrity of the democratic process.
