Notorious bandit Bello Turji has confirmed that he imposed a ₦50 million levy on the community of Moriki in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. In a video recorded on September 10, Turji reiterated the extortion and criticized human rights lawyer Bulama Bukarti, who had recently exposed the levy on social media.
Turji also mocked social media influencer Dan Bello and denied Bukarti’s claim that the levy was due to the killing of his cattle by the military. He insisted the levy was in response to the deaths of his “brothers” and cattle, and warned the community of further consequences if actions against his people continued.
Despite the threats, Bukarti remains undeterred, stating that Turji’s intimidation tactics would fail, just as similar threats from former Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau had.
