In a significant blow to armed banditry in Nigeria, troops from Operation Hadarin Daji have successfully neutralized four notorious bandit leaders in Zamfara State. The eliminated bandits, Ibrahim Nagure, Lawali Dodo, Kadiri, and Jambaleri, were major figures in the banditry network that had been causing widespread terror in the region.
This operation follows the recent killing of Halilu Sububu, a prominent bandit leader known for his role in numerous terrorist activities across the North West.
In Plateau State, another key figure, Hosseini Osman, was captured in Ganawuri village, Riyom local government area. Osman confessed to orchestrating several deadly attacks, including a recent assault on Ganawuri village that resulted in civilian casualties. He also admitted to his role in a local kidnapping syndicate.
Using information provided by Osman, military forces were able to rescue several kidnapped victims from Kyaram village in Kanam local government area.
Additionally, in Gwoza local government area, an ambush on Boko Haram fighters fleeing from the Sambisa Forest resulted in heavy casualties and the seizure of a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition.
In Kaduna State, a raid on a suspected terrorist hideout in Gobarawa Forest, Birnin Gwari, led to the recovery of five AK-47 rifles, 16 rounds of ammunition, and five motorcycles. The operation caused the criminals to flee, leaving behind their weapons and equipment.
The elimination of Halilu Sububu and these other bandit leaders marks a critical step forward in the fight against terrorism and banditry in the region.
