The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has clarified recent developments regarding petrol pricing, highlighting a shift in currency for transactions with Dangote Refinery. Contrary to earlier federal directives, Dangote Refinery sold its refined petrol products on Sunday in US Dollars, with plans to switch to Naira for October sales.
According to NNPCL’s updated chart, Dangote Refinery sold petrol to NNPCL at ₦898.78 per liter. Additional costs included a Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) fee of ₦8.99, an inspection fee of ₦0.97, a Lagos distribution cost of ₦15, and a margin of ₦26.48.
The estimated pump prices vary across Nigeria due to distribution costs and geographical factors:
- Lagos: ₦950.22
- Sokoto State: ₦999.22
- Kano State: ₦999.22
- Borno State: ₦1,019.22
- Kaduna: ₦999.22
- FCT: ₦992.22
- Oyo State: ₦960.22
- Rivers State: ₦980.00
- Imo State: ₦980.22
Prices are highest in the North East at ₦1,019.22 per liter, with North West states at ₦999.22, North Central at ₦992.22, South East and South South at ₦980.22, and South West at ₦960.22. Lagos State benefits from the lowest price due to proximity to the refinery.
