The Borno State Government has issued a health warning against consuming vegetables from flood-affected areas. According to a statement from the Ministry of Information and Internal Security, these vegetables are contaminated with dead bodies, sewage, chemicals, and other harmful substances. Residents are advised to avoid purchasing produce from these areas to prevent serious health risks such as waterborne diseases and food poisoning. The severe flooding, described as the worst in 30 years, has displaced nearly 500,000 people and impacted over 1 million in Maiduguri, causing extensive damage and fatalities among local wildlife.
