The Rivers State Police Command has uncovered a syndicate that specializes in defrauding job seekers through fake employment ads. During a raid in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area, officers from the Octopus Strike Force rescued 16 victims, including 13 males and two females, and arrested one suspect, Chukwudi Okoli.
The syndicate reportedly posed as employees of a fraudulent company, Ojoseansel International Global Limited, promising victims high-paying jobs in the oil and gas sector. Victims paid between ₦650,000 and ₦850,000 for the fake jobs, only to be detained and monitored at the gang’s hideout.
Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, revealed that the victims were also coerced into deceiving others with similar fake job offers. Items seized during the raid included mobile phones, laptops, and office equipment. The investigation is ongoing.
