The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the deployment of four new Commissioners of Police to take charge of key state commands in Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa-Ibom. The newly appointed commissioners are:
- CP Danladi Nda (Abia State Command)
- CP Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale (Lagos State Command)
- CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya (Ebonyi State Command)
- CP Festus Eribo (Akwa-Ibom State Command)
These appointments align with the IGP’s commitment to reorganizing the Nigeria Police Force, optimizing human resources, and enhancing security nationwide.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Egbetokun urged the new police commissioners to demonstrate dedication and develop innovative approaches to tackling the security challenges in their respective commands. He also encouraged them to support ongoing police reform efforts, contributing to the overall progress of the force and the nation.
This move follows similar redeployments, such as the reshuffling of senior police officers during the 2023 elections, which involved AIG Abutu Yaro and CP Okon Effiong. The new appointments are expected to bolster the effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force and ensure public safety.
In addition to these changes, the IGP announced the transfer of several other police commissioners. CP Olatunji Disu will now head the Federal Capital Territory Command, while CP Peter Opara has been assigned to Delta State. CP Abaniwonda Olufemi will take charge of the Rivers State Police Command. These adjustments aim to improve law enforcement and enhance the performance of the Police Force.
