- Petrol Prices:
The cost of petrol has skyrocketed since the legislators left, rising from ₦617 per litre to as high as ₦940 in some parts of the country, with some regions even reporting prices at ₦1,000 per litre. Lawmakers are expected to debate the reasons behind these increases, particularly with local refineries like Dangote Refinery reportedly selling fuel at higher prices than imported products. Public frustration is mounting, and discussions on whether to reinstate the petroleum subsidy could be reignited. - Floods and Disaster Relief:
Recent floods, especially in Borno State, have led to significant losses. While lawmakers have made donations, such as the ₦100 million from the House for Maiduguri flood victims, citizens are calling for more than just financial aid. Many hope NASS will investigate the causes of these disasters and hold those responsible accountable if negligence is found. - Constitutional Amendment:
The House spokesperson, Akin Rotimi, confirmed that constitutional reform would be a major focus upon their return.
