Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has expressed his excitement after scoring his first goal for Lazio in their 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv in a UEFA Europa League match on Thursday, September 26. On loan from Turkish club Hatayspor, Dele-Bashiru not only scored but also provided an assist in the match at Volksparkstadion, marking his fourth appearance for the Italian side.
In a post-match interview, Dele-Bashiru shared his joy at scoring in front of Lazio’s supporters and highlighted his growing understanding on the pitch, especially with teammate Boulaye Dia. He credited his improvement to the support from his teammates and coaching staff, noting how they have helped him adapt to the new team.
“I’m very happy for the goal and for scoring in front of our fans,” Dele-Bashiru told Lazio Style Channel. “I feel happy in this team; everyone helps me to settle in, and I’m getting better and better.”
Lazio coach Marco Baroni acknowledged Dele-Bashiru’s potential but emphasized the need for the midfielder to improve his tactical awareness and overall game contribution, predicting that he will develop into a great modern midfielder.
Dele-Bashiru is expected to feature again when Lazio faces Grande in a Serie A match on Sunday, September 29.
