Former Zamfara governorship candidate, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has alleged that top politicians are secretly funding banditry in Nigeria’s North-West region, exacerbating the region’s insecurity. In a statement on Saturday, Shinkafi expressed support for the Defence Headquarters’ investigation into the financial backing of bandit groups. He praised military efforts in neutralizing key bandit leaders and called for the prosecution of those using insecurity for political gain. Shinkafi also defended Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, against blackmail, commending his performance in President Tinubu’s cabinet.
