The Nigerian Air Force has successfully targeted and destroyed a logistics base used by Boko Haram terrorists in the Yadi Forest area of Kaduna State. This operation was part of the ongoing military efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in the region.
On September 27, 2024, troops from Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP) executed airstrikes based on credible intelligence indicating a significant terrorist presence and stockpiles of armaments in the forest.
Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information for the Air Force, stated that thorough intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance confirmed the presence of terrorists and their motorcycles in the area. The logistics base was identified as belonging to Kadade Gurgu, a known associate of the notorious terrorist leader Dogo Gide.
Ali revealed that Gurgu had been providing refuge to various terrorist leaders due to heightened military operations in Sokoto and Zamfara States. As NAF aircraft approached the target, several militants were spotted fleeing the scene.
The targeted strikes resulted in the complete destruction of the logistics facility, with flames and thick black smoke observed from the air. Local informants later confirmed that the base was obliterated, leading to the elimination of numerous terrorists.
The Nigerian Air Force, in collaboration with ground forces, is committed to maintaining control of the operational environment through continuous surveillance, regular patrols, and precise strikes against bandit strongholds. This operation aims to significantly diminish terrorism and criminal activities in the North-West and North-Central regions of Nigeria.
