A coalition of civil society organizations has denounced the criticism leveled against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, stating that it undermines the credibility of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. The coalition defends the decision to suspend Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, asserting that it was necessary to restore order and discipline in the Senate.

Comprised of Rising-Up for a United Nigeria (RUN), Guardians of Democracy and Development (GODD), and Partners for a Legislative Agenda for Nigeria (PLAN), these CSOs call on Senators to prioritize national development over regional divisions.

They caution against divisive tendencies and the influence of splinter groups within the Senate, emphasizing the need for unity. The coalition dismisses Ningi’s allegations of budget padding and accuses him of attempting to discredit the Senate President and Tinubu’s government.

Urging Nigerians to support the administration’s efforts, the coalition emphasizes the importance of unity in restoring Nigeria’s prosperity and economic recovery.
