Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has approved a new minimum wage of ₦70,000 for civil servants in the state. This was confirmed by Bashir Ado, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Salary and Pension, who also serves on the state’s minimum wage implementation committee.
Ado noted that the committee has completed 90% of its work on the wage implementation, with only a few formalities remaining before the report is presented to the Governor for final approval. The state has multiple salary structures, and those on special scales above the minimum wage will receive consequential adjustments.
The Nigeria Labour Congress in Jigawa has expressed satisfaction with the proposed salary structure, and the wage increase is expected to bring significant relief to civil servants in the state.
