A video circulating on social media, shared by APC member Abubakar Sidiq Usman, captured employees dancing and chanting “finally” in the corridors of the ministry, reflecting relief over the end of her controversial tenure.
Kennedy-Ohanenye, whose leadership faced various criticisms, was one of five ministers dismissed during the latest Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting as part of President Tinubu’s broader effort to boost government efficiency. Other ministers removed included Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Youth Development), Tahir Mamman (Education), and Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo (State for Housing and Urban Development).
The staff’s reaction at the Ministry of Women Affairs underscores the internal discontent that brewed under Kennedy-Ohanenye’s leadership, marking the end of a contentious period for the ministry.
