Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, representing Kano South, has issued a warning to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, advising him against prioritizing the interests of former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso over the needs of Kano’s citizens. This caution follows speculation within the Kwankwasiyya Movement and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) that Kwankwaso holds substantial sway over Yusuf’s administration, allegedly influencing key policy decisions.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Sumaila emphasized that failing to prioritize Kano’s residents could lead to lasting discontent among the millions who supported Yusuf. He urged the governor to balance his collaboration with Kwankwaso with a commitment to serving the entire state.

“The greatest danger is betraying those who supported you,” Sumaila stated, adding that the governor should protect the rights of all Kano citizens, including NNPP members and even those who opposed him, such as members of the APC and PDP.

Sumaila’s remarks underscore the importance of inclusive governance, urging Yusuf to prioritize the welfare of all citizens above any political alliances.
